Deciding and ending

Staying, leaving, or not knowing yet

For partners weighing whether to stay together, for people who have decided to part, and for anyone who wants to end well.

Sessions run 80 minutes. A first session decides nothing. We hear what each of you wants, including when one of you is unsure, and we hold both views without a vote. Some couples come for a few sessions to decide; others come to part clearly and kindly.

You might be

  • One of you is unsure

  • You have decided to part

  • You share a home, a lease or a pet

  • You share friends and a community

  • Still raising children together

What to expect

  • How we work

We draw on systemic approaches and name the one we are using. When one of you is unsure, we make space for that without pressing either of you to settle it.

  • What this is not

It is not mediation, and we don't give legal advice. We don't push anyone to stay or to leave, and we don't promise how it will turn out.

  • How long, how often

Sessions run 80 minutes. Some couples meet a few times and others for longer. Your clinician sets the pace with you, and we never promise a number of sessions.

  • How it is paid

Each session's fee is given in writing before you start, and either of you can pay. If you are separating, we can talk about how to divide it.

    How fees work

Three questions

Can we come if only one of us is sure?

Yes. Many people come while one of them is unsure. We hold both views, and no one is pressed to catch up.

Can we end the relationship here?

Yes. Some partners come to part well: to say what needs saying, divide what is shared, and be able to speak to each other afterward.

Do you help with the legal side?

No. We can talk about what you are feeling and deciding. For legal questions, a lawyer is the right person to ask.
