How fees work
Insurance we work with
We are out of network with every insurance plan, and we do not bill Medicare or Medicaid. Some plans reimburse part of an out-of-network session, and we give you the receipt to claim it. Couples work is often not reimbursed at all, because many plans pay only when one person has a diagnosis.

Many PPO plans reimburse some out-of-network care; yours decides
If you pay yourself
Your fee for each session is given to you in writing before you start. Either of you can pay, or you can split it any way you like. HSA and FSA cards work. We hold a limited number of reduced-fee spots, and you can ask about one without explaining why.
The fee is in writing before session one
Split between you however you decide
A late cancellation notice is 24 hours
Receipts for reimbursement
Each month we send an itemized receipt (a superbill) that you may send to your plan, with the dates, the fee and the codes. It carries a diagnosis code that the insurer will see, so we go through what goes on it with you first. Your plan decides what it reimburses, and reimbursement is not guaranteed.
An estimate in advance
If you pay without insurance, you have the right to a good faith estimate of what care will cost before you begin. We send it in writing before your first session. It is not a contract, and if a bill comes in $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it.
Checking your benefits
Your plan is the one that knows. Before the first session we send you the questions to ask it about out-of-network mental health benefits, and the codes we would use, so you can decide with the answers in hand.
More than one of you
When there is more than one of you paying
Either of you can pay
The fee can come from one person or from two. We don't assume one person carries it.
Split it any way you like
Half each, a third each, or something that changes with the month. Tell us, and we put it in writing.
A receipt in your name
The monthly receipt can be made out to either of you, or to both, depending on who will use it.
A question about cost?
Write to us and ask. We will answer in writing, before you have to decide anything.
