Transitions
When one of you is changing, and both of you are in it
For partners where one person is coming out, questioning or transitioning, and for the partner working out what it means for you both.
Sessions run 80 minutes. We make room for both of you. The person who is changing doesn't have to justify it, and the partner doesn't have to pretend it is easy. We go at the speed the slower of you can manage, and we don't push anyone toward a conclusion.
You might be
One of you is coming out
One of you is questioning
A transition is planned or underway
Family or work is reacting
Not sure yet what to call any of it

What to expect
How we work
We draw on systemic and attachment-based approaches. We don't treat anyone's identity as a symptom, and we say so when a question belongs to another kind of professional.
What this is not
It is not medical care, and it is not an assessment for medical treatment. We don't write letters for treatment, and we don't tell you whether to stay together.
How long, how often
Sessions run 80 minutes. Many partners meet weekly at first, then less often. Your clinician sets the pace with you, and we never promise a number of sessions.
How it is paid
Each session's fee is given in writing before you start, and either of you can pay. Insurance often doesn't cover couples work; how fees work explains why.

Three questions
Does the partner who isn't changing get time too?
Yes. Both of you are the clients. We make sure each of you has room to say what this is like, without having to defend it.
Do we have to be out to come?
No. Tell us how it is safe to reach you, and we will use only that. The Quick exit button is on every page.
Can you help with medical steps?
No. We can talk about how you are living through it together. For medical care, a medical professional is the right place.
Write to us about a transition
Tell us how to reach you and how you would describe things. We will write back at a time that is safe for you.
